Immac- ulate Conception School classes have resumed using the library on a regularly-scheduled basis and will continue through the school year. Thanks go to the Friends of the Library for the cheese and crackers they provided for the September senior citizen program. Thanks also go to Delight Olson, Evelyn Reinhold- son, Macile Reinholdson, Madge Sandgren, and Aileen Sturdevant for helping to serve. Jo and M.ichelle Nordby went to a workshop on children's programming and services in St. Cloud on the 19th. They attended sessions on music and preschoolers, a "baby" story- hour, using puppets, and Friends in community services. They also got to visit Debbie Galka, a former CHPL page, who is now working at Great River Regional Library as an assistant to the Children's Librarian. Jo had the opportunity to view the professional exhibits at the National Convention of the American Association of School Librarians held in Minneapolis Septmber 26th. She picked up lots of video catalogs, brochures, posters, and an autographed copy of Nancy Carlson's Harriet's happ~.~alloween. Becky and Mary went to Discount Records on the 18th and purchased audio cassettes, records, and 31 compact discs, which will be available for borrowing later this month. !!! THEY'RE HERE !!! As of today the library has entered 1584 items in the automated circulation system materials data base! This is a good start, and we are learning a lot about Ruby Wand as we progress. This month we will start loading our patrons into another data base, and hopefully, will start sending out the permanent plastic library cards in January. The staff has been working on the following projects over the past month: 1. computer training 2. data base conversion 3. weeding collection 4. book displays 5. slogan contest 6. circulation desk consultant 7. large print book rotation 8. YA conversion 9. reference training 1©. budget hearing between Library Board and City Council 11. newsletter 12. selection 13. book order 14.
