The Read-to-Me Reading Train Club's grand finale occurred with a party on April 9 attended by 64 children. Summer is just around the corner~ and Jo has been busy getting ready for programs and her annual visits to the schools. Thanks go to Ruth Miller~ Estelle Nelson, Delight Olson~ and Evelyn Reinholdson for the angelic lemon bars they baked for the April senior citizen program. Thanks also go ~o Marie Eng, Ruth Miller, Estel].e Nelson~ and Evelyn Reinholdson for helping to serve. A very special thanks goes to the Friends for obtaining a Public Service Community Block Grant in Anoka County to provide funding to bring The Gaslight Players, Mr. Larry Ripp apd Mr. A1 Adams~ to this program. They presented a short play~ "The Game's Afoot~~; based on the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson solving crimes in Victorian London. Congratulations to all our winners during National Library Week! The Reading Raffle, which had adult and children's divJsions~ yielded the following winners: Alice Anderson Dolores Rak John Stopa Scott Renstrom Angle Pearson Marti Fuchs Sharon Pastuszak Louise Madison Penny Bojarski Louis Boos Tina Ferguson Eric Leuth Timmy Hawkinson John Keisner Debbie Hoium ~ngela Augustson Tim Hart Teresa Guzik Jason Bell Rebecca Torberg Abby Israel The guess-the-number-of-candJes-in-tbe-jar contest scored three winners: Cindy Flermoen ) tie in adult department Scott Renstrom ) Nick ~4orafka - children's winner The library was recently the recipient of a very generous gift from The Knights of Columbus to purchase a book cart~ a New Book of Knowledge (a children's encyclopedia set)~ a carousel slide projector, and a safe° Our thanks are extended to them for their thoughtful contribution to the library and the community. Becky, Jo, and Mary attended the last scheduled demonstration of an automated circulation system at Anoka County on April 3o GEAC~ the company which will be providing Minneapolis Public's system~ gave an impressive overview of what their system can do. On the ]9th Mary attended a workshop in St. Paul on data base reference searches and desk duties as chc~ ~ffcCC ~O£Ri [iO[~[y services0 0n the 25th Peg participated in a MELSA-sponsored Report May 7, 1985 - Page 2 - uorkghop on library services for the handicapped. Becky has been serving as a member of the evaluation committee for the City's Comparable Worth study and has been meeting with the Automated Gircutation Committee in Anoka County also. The library has six graduating seniors in the page ranks this year! Congratulations, ladies, and good luck as you start a new phase of your education.
