This was Jo's first experiment with a 2-year-old section, and because of the high response, she will be including them in her plans for the future. Jo also put on a special program for a field trip of pre-schoolers from St. Phillips. Thanks go to Lucille McFail, Ruth Miller, Jane Polley, and Madge Sand- gren for the pumpkin bars they baked for the October senior citizen program. Thanks also go to Dorothe Holm, Lucille McFail, Estelle Nelson, and Jane Polley for helping to serve. Several workshops were attended by the staff this month. Mary and Peg went to the annual Book Fair at the University on the 26th and got a chance to look at the new crop of children's books. Becky and Mary attended a workshop on effective listening on the 24th and 31st spon- sored by the City for supervisory personnel. Becky also attended a demonstration of Dataphase's automated circulation system at the Fridley library on the 6th and came away impressed with how computers can simplify a lot of complex paperwork. *** ATTENTION: FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY *** The annual Christmas celebration for senior citizens will be December 12 at 2 p.m. The Friends are each asked to donate two dozen cookies or bars for the special treat on that date. Cookies and bars can be brought to the library any time before 2 p.m. on the 12th or on the day before. THANK YOU~ FRIENDS!
