The various reading clubs had a total enrollment of 653. The Read-to-Me Club party on the 15th was attended by 44 participants and the final movie of the season, '~Misty," on August 22 had 76 chil- dren in attendance. Two sessions of stories and crafts for Tiny Tots were held on August 1 and 8, and Jo was ably assisted by four neighborhood girls, Christine Guzik, Theresa Guszik, Shelley Pogreba, and Hichelle Johnston, who put on original puppet shows for the Drograms. Christine Guzik, Theresa Guzik~ and Erin Kintop also presented a puppet show at the Read-to-Me Club party. The Seventh Annual Unannounced, Unadvertised Book Sale was held on August 16 and 17. The Friends had sorted out all the donations of books and magazines received during the year and were ready to wheel and deal on Thursday and Friday. Their efforts were rewarded when nearly Sg~0 were deposited into their treasury on the following Monday. Thanks go to Pat Jindra, Evelyn Reinholdson, and Macile Reinholdson for the Apple Cinnamon cupcakes they baked for the August senior citizen program. Thanks also go to LeeAnn Boc- winski~ Marie Eng, Pat Jindra, and Ruth Miller for helping to serve and to Debbie Galka for running the projector. Mark Burgoyne and Boy Scout Troop 162 under Scout Master Lee Lausche have painted the library's basement activity room as part of an Eagle Scout project. It looks bright and fresh as a result of their effort~ in time for the new school year to start. Thank you Mark and Troop 162. Jo needs empty plastic roll-on deodorant bottles for a craft project. Please save your empty ones and bring them to her at the library any time during regular business hours. The library welcomes Marguerite Bachman as our new full-time clerk-typist. Marguerite has worked in libraries in Willow School in White Bear Lake and at 916 Vo-Tech. Welcome to the staf£. Good luck to Debbie Galka and Anne Student as they leave for St. Cloud and UMD respec- tively to start their college careers! ATTENTION FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY: Do not forget that your hand-crafted items for the salad luncheon raffle are doe to be displayed at the Friends meeting on September 10. Please bring them with you that day and arrangements will be made to store them until the 13th. If yon wish to work at the luncheon and raffle and have not yet signed up, please call Aileen Sturdevant at 572-8601. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the pages for all the extra work they did over the summer. With three less pages than usual, no hours were left uncovered and no work was left undone. You all deserve applause for a job well-done. COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PUBLIC LIBRARY EXPENDITURES September 4, 1984 RENTS & LEASES: #11OO Modern Sound Pictures TRAVEL, CONF., SCHOOLS: #1210 M.
