The children's department summer programs were in full swing during the month of
July. Reading Club had 653 registered participants by the end of July and 86 chil-
dren attended the movie, "From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler" on
July 31. Tuesday Afternoon Specials continued on the 3rd with 69 children making
bird houses at crafts, on the 10th with 75 participating in a game day, on the 17th
76 watched the film, "Homer & the Wacky Donut Machine~" and on the 24th a puppet
~how was presented for 65 viewers. Pre-school crafts was held on the 16th and 23rd,
with 42 children participating both days and with a play presented by Jennifer
Dobie, Debbie Bierman, and Melissa Reil on the 23rd. The Book Bus, replete with a
new portable puppet stage and a flashy new sign, completed another successful year
with the following circulation:

Thanks go to Stella Rose who baked all the cookies for the July senior citizens'
program Thanks also go to Evelyn Reinholdson, Macile Reinholdson, Madge Sandgren,
and Ruth Westerberg for helping to serve.
ATTENTION: FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY
Sorting of books for the annual b~ok sale will be Monday, August 13, at 9:00 a.m.
Bring a bag lunch and plan to stay for the i:00 business meeting. Refreshments will
be provided. There still are a few time slots open for working at the book sale.
Please call Mary at the library (788-3924), if you can work. The annual book sale
is Thursday, August 16, and Friday, August 17, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Tickets for the Friends Salad Bar Luncheon and Raffle, Thursday, September 13, are
now available from Marie Eng, ticket chairman. Call her at 788-O001. Each Friend
is asked to sell at least five tickets. Projects for the raffle will be on display
at the September 10 Friends meeting.
Darlene Saba, the library's clerk-typist for the past four years, has accepted a new
position as a secretary at Onan. The staff extends our best wishes for her new
endeavor.
