The children's department finished up the winter session of pre-school storyhour
and Tiny Tots. Two field trips were held on the 29th for 59 children registered
in the Recreation Department's pre-school program. On the 23rd a puppet show enter-
tained approximately 150 children and some parents and Grandpa Rudy made his debut.
Thanks go to Lucille McFail, Loraine Reisewitz, Pauline Rusinyak, and Mae Super
for the pistachio cake they baked for the March senior citizens' program. Thanks
also go to Lucille McFail, Loraine Reisewitz, Pauline Rusinyak, and Madge Sandgren
for helping to serve. Two movies and a play put on by Mrs. Kaye's 5th graders
from Immaculate were enjoyed by everyone.
Mary and Becky went to Discount Records on March 16 and spent a lot of money.
The new records and cassettes will be put out during National Library Week.
On the 29th the library participated in the national tornado drill. The staff
had to move all the patrons into the properly designated area and perform all func-
tions as if it were a real storm.
National Library Week will be celebrated April 8-14, with the theme "Knowledge
is Real Power." Contests will be held for all age groups and be sure to enter
the "You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby" contest, which features the staff members
as they were and are.
The library welcomes new staff member Grandpa Rudy this month. Supplied by the
Friends, Grandpa Rudy has a small bachelor apartment in the library's basement
storage closet. He is quite a friendly guy and is looking forward to being in
numerous productions here in the library and on cable tv. Grandpa Rudy has a lot
of charisma, and we are pleased to have him on the staff. The Friends have also
purchased a microwave oven for the library. Thanks for your thoughtfulness and
generosity.
Good news/bad news department: evening supervisor Cindy Acton has a wonderful
new full-time job! Unfortunately, this means Cindy will be unable to work evenings
for the library anymore, but she has graciously agreed to remain on the substitute
list. Congratulations and good luck from the whole staff! We also welcome Marsha
Tubbs as the library's new evening supervisor.
