The children's department is in full swing with programs for the mid-winter
months. 157 children are registered in the Smurf Read-to-Me Club. There
are 54 registered in pre-school storyhour (3~ to 5 year olds) and 52 in
Tiny Tots (2% to 3~ year olds). On February 13, Mrs. Kaye's fifth grade
class from Immaculate Conception School presented the play, "Our Flag,"
for the library staff. The play is from a book from the library, and
the class prepared it for a Catholic Education Week program at the school.
The original costumes, music, and acting were superb.
Thanks go to Connie Carlson, Diane Ocel, Delight Olson, and Kay Reiners
for the cherry poke cakes they baked for the February senior citizens'
program, when 79 seniors enjoyed movies on Scandinavia and the Orient.
Thanks also go to Connie Carlson, Delight Olson, Kay Reiners, and Dian
Sturdevant for helping to serve. Next time you see Kay, be sure to ask
her about her Kentucky Fried Chicken adventure!
Darlene went to the Municipals workshop on health, nutrition, exercise,
stress, and life style changes as they influence productivity in employees.
Jo went to a workshop sponsored by School District 13 on the sexual abuse
of children. Darlene is also serving on an employee committee that is
revising the evaluation form for non-supervisory City employees. Becky
has been attending the training sessions put on by Larry Klink as the
City's facilitator for its new quality circles program.
During the month of April, applications for page positions will be accepted
at the library. The deadline for submission is May 1, and interviews
will take place during the month of May. Interested people must be at
least 15~ years old and willing to work after school, Applications may
be picked up at the library any time after April 1.
