HomeMy WebLinkAboutFebruary 7, 1984COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT February 7, 1984 Circulation for the month of December was down from 1982: 1982 1983 Adult 5,119 4,878 Juvenile 3,123 3,092 8,242 7,970 LIBGIS statistics for December included 1,132 reference, 138 directional A, and 33 directional B questions. Based on a month with 25 working days, this means that the staff answered 45.28 reference, 5.52 direc- tional tional A, and 1.32 directional B questions per day. 1983 marked the 54th year of library service to the citizens of Columbia Heights. The circulation of borrowed materials rose to 133,383, which represented a 4.3% increase over 1982. A total of 16,701 reference questions was answered by the staff, which was an increase of 3,256 questions from the previous year. The basement remodeling project, the fourth year of the Book Bus, the library's own Cable Channel 16, the luncheon in honor of the Friends, a special Chautauqua program for the senior citizens, and an open house were just a few highlights of a very busy year. The materials collection rose to 43,321 volumes of book stock and 2,575 audiovisual items. The library's registered borrow- ers now include 4,530 nonresidents and 11,811 residents. The library's complete annual report for 1983 is now on file at the library and may be used by interested persons during regular business hours. Thanks go to the Friends of the Library for the cake donuts they pur- chased for the January senior citizens' program. Thanks also go to Lucille McFail and Madge Sandgren for helping to serve. The Friends purchased a cloth sculpture Mother Goose mobile for the children's department, and it is gorgeous. Be sure to stop in and look at its place of honor over the circulation desk. Thank you, Friends! Cindy Willman has accepted a new job as an office aide at a local busi- ness and the staff wishes her good luck with her new position. Paula Skone has been hired as her replacement. Welcome to the staff, Paula. H,'\iNTENANCE & REPAIR: #]120 Bacon's Electric Co. City Wfdt, Loeksmitbing Copy l.)up] £cating Products Gest ether Corp.
