LIBGIS statistics for September include 1,234 reference~ 143 directional A,
an~ 12 directional B questions. Based on a month with 24 working days, this
me~ns that the staff answered 51.42 reference, 5.96 directional Ag and
directional B questions per day.
The Children's Department has started all sections of the fall session of pre-
school storyhour, with 69 registered in the 35 to 5 years-old age group and
43 in Tiny Tots for the 25 to 3~ years-old age group. Special Halloween stories,
movies, and crafts were used in conjunction with the holidays, and the childre~
were encouraged to come to storyhour in costume. Special thanks to Pauline
~u~inyak fo~ her help with the Halloween storyhour on October 26.
Thanks go to all the Friends of the Library for the doughnuts they provided
fo~ the October senior citizen program. Thanks also go to Connie Carlson~
Loyaine Reisewitz~ and Pauline Rusinyak for helping to serve.
Th~s has been a busy month for learning by the library staff. Mary attended
a meeting on the 12th on services from different organizations for senior citi-
zeds in Anoka County. On the 21st she participated in a workshop at the State
HiStorical Society on information which is available through state agencies.
Oni~October 26~ Mary and Darlene attended a workshop at Hamline on the use o~
mi6ro¢omputers in libraries. Darlene and Jo went to the showcase of new books
at the University Book Fair on October 28.
A special program in honor of United [~ations Week was presented on the 26th
by Ralph Karki's high school students, ~,~ho participated in a mock United Nations
at the Hague last year. If people are interested in more information on thi~
program for high school students~ please contact ~r. ~ar|~i at the high school.
A new supply of oasteboard and cloth books has been purchased and will be oug
on the shelf as soon as possible.
