HomeMy WebLinkAboutJune 7, 1983COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT June 7, 1983 Circulation for the month of April is up from 1982: 1982 1983 Adult 5,790 6,248 Juvenile 3,713 3,969 9,503 10,217 LIBOIS statistics for April include 1,492 reference, 507 directional A, and 46 directional B questions. Based 'on a month with 25 working days, this means that the staff answered 59.68 reference, 20.28 directional A, and 184 directional B questions per day. , The children's department is 95% finished and the staff is anxiously awaiting the final day of preparations before the grand re-opening. Jo and Darlene visited the elementary schools during May and made presentations about the library's summer programs in the classrooms. Reading club started June 6, with registrations being taken in the Brown Room, and hopefully, registration will not be too inconvenienced during the final stages of the remodelling project. Special thanks to Connie Carlson, Pat Jindra, Kay Reiners, Evelyn Reinholdson, Ellen Rosenthal, Pauline Rusinyak, and Darlene Saba for moving all the children's books off the shelves in three hours. Thanks also go to the Park Department crew who moved all the shelving out in two hours. An additional thanks to all those people who moved everything back in one day. It was a job well done. Thanks go to the Friends for supplying the ingredients for the party sand- wiches (prepared by Margaret Anderson, Connie Carlson, Rita Norberg, and Lee Wilke) served at the May senior citizen program. Thanks also go to Ruth Miller, Rita Norberg, and Mae Super for helping to serve. Congratulations go to the library's two graduating seniors, Marilou Pfaff and Dian Sturdevant. Honored at a graduation breakfast on May 31, Marilou will be continuing her schooling at North llennepin in sales/marketing, and Dian will be attending Anoka-Hennepin in the health-sciences field. Congrat- ulations from the staff on your achievements. LeeAnn Bocwinski and Anne Student will be joining the library staff as page- trainees in July. Chosen from a field of 24 applicants, the girls will be trained during the summer and will work a regular and substitute schedule respectively in the fall. Welcome to the staff of the library.
