REPORT
June 7, 1983
Circulation for the month of April is up from 1982:
1982 1983
Adult 5,790 6,248
Juvenile 3,713 3,969
9,503 10,217
LIBOIS statistics for April include 1,492 reference, 507 directional A, and
46 directional B questions. Based 'on a month with 25 working days, this
means that the staff answered 59.68 reference, 20.28 directional A, and 184
directional B questions per day. ,
The children's department is 95% finished and the staff is anxiously awaiting
the final day of preparations before the grand re-opening. Jo and Darlene
visited the elementary schools during May and made presentations about the
library's summer programs in the classrooms. Reading club started June 6,
with registrations being taken in the Brown Room, and hopefully, registration
will not be too inconvenienced during the final stages of the remodelling
project. Special thanks to Connie Carlson, Pat Jindra, Kay Reiners, Evelyn
Reinholdson, Ellen Rosenthal, Pauline Rusinyak, and Darlene Saba for moving
all the children's books off the shelves in three hours. Thanks also go
to the Park Department crew who moved all the shelving out in two hours.
An additional thanks to all those people who moved everything back in one
day. It was a job well done.
Thanks go to the Friends for supplying the ingredients for the party sand-
wiches (prepared by Margaret Anderson, Connie Carlson, Rita Norberg, and
Lee Wilke) served at the May senior citizen program. Thanks also go to Ruth
Miller, Rita Norberg, and Mae Super for helping to serve.
Congratulations go to the library's two graduating seniors, Marilou Pfaff
and Dian Sturdevant. Honored at a graduation breakfast on May 31, Marilou
will be continuing her schooling at North llennepin in sales/marketing, and
Dian will be attending Anoka-Hennepin in the health-sciences field. Congrat-
ulations from the staff on your achievements.
LeeAnn Bocwinski and Anne Student will be joining the library staff as page-
trainees in July. Chosen from a field of 24 applicants, the girls will be
trained during the summer and will work a regular and substitute schedule
respectively in the fall. Welcome to the staff of the library.
Becky wishes to express her gratitude for all the help and the cooperation
she has received from the staff and Friends during the tinme of the basement
renovation. Thank you for your support.
