HomeMy WebLinkAboutFebruary 1, 1983COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PUBLIC LIBRARY Report February 1, 1983 Circulation for the month of December is up from 1981: 1981 1982 Adult 4,727 5,129 Juvenile 2,533 3,123 7,260 8,242 LIBGIS statistics for December include 1,O90 reference, 226 directional A, and 45 directional B questions. Based on a month with 22 working days, this means that the staff answered 49.55 reference, 10.27 directional ^, and 2.05 directional B questions per day. The children's department has been preparing for the start of pre-school storyhour, Tiny Tots, and the Read-to-Me Club. The Tuesday after-school art class sponsored by the Museum of Art has resumed for the winter sessiom A puppet show was presented on January 11, and on January 13, three puppet shows were taped for broadcast on local cable television. Jo did an excel- lent job on "The Three Pigs, .... Bunny FooFoo," and "The Singing Dragon." You can see her on Wednesday, February 2, at 6:30 p.m. on cable channel 3. Thanks go to Ruth Miller, Rita Norberg, Evelyn Reinholdson, and Pauline Rusinyak for helping to serve at the January senior citizen program. A choice array of crackers, cheese, and cold cuts was served to an appre- ciative crowd. Thanks to the Friends for providing this special treat. There are currently two exhibits in the library's display cases: one on hobbies by Kay Reiners and one featuring E.T. by Rita Norberg. Don't miss them! A cable television hook-up was installed at the library in January. This hook-up will eventually link the library with City Hall, the school system, and all other public buildings in the City. Watch for announcements of the library's programs on the informational cable channels. Mrs. Dorothea Lindsey, who donated many hours of volunteer work to the library, passed away on 3anuary 25. The staff joins in remembering her and offering her friends and family our condolences.
