Summer has gotten off to a fast start in the children's department.
So far~ Jo has 632 children registered in the three divisions of
summer reading club, and it looks as if there will be even more.
The Tuesday afternoon specials have featured Mrs. Ruth Foster with
a dog obedience demonstration~ [~r. Vern Kristofferson with a slide
presentation of the Minnesota Zoo, and a bring-your-own-t-shirt tie-
dye session. Nine girls are making ceramic dolls in the Wednesday
afternoon class and six are signed up for the general ceramics class,
which will start in July. 213 people saw the movie~ ~'Snowball Express,"
on June 17th, and each Thursday afternoon there is a different one-
hour filmstrip program. The Boo|~ Bus has started its summer run and
will be visiting six City parks over its 6-week schedule.
Thanks go to Marie Hansen, GCri Nawrocki~ Madge Sandgren, and Evelyn
Reinholdson for the lemon filler bars they baked for the June senior
citizen program. Thanks also go to Evelyn Reinholdson~ Madge Sandgren,
and Aileen Sturdevant for helping to serve.
The library received a new flag for our flagpole on June 10 from Mrs.
Helen ~errick. Thank you~ Helen, for your continued support.
The library received a large donation of books from Mrs. Dorothea
Lindsey to add to the collection and to the book sale.
The page trainees have completed two weeks of their training, and
appear to be catching on fast. Audrey Netkow has started a job with
the Martin L. Garden Law Office, and the staff wishes her the best
of luck. Congratulations go to Robyn Eide, who was named Miss Congenial-
ity at the 1982 Miss Columbia Heights coronation.
