tional B questions for the month. Based od 25 working days in April, this
meant that-the staff ahswered 45.96 reference., 8 directional A, and .92 direc-
tional B qUestions per day.
The Ch'ildren's Department has been busy preparing for summer programs, and
Jo and Darlene visited the elementary schools during the last week in May
to promote children,s parti6ipation. Three reading clubs for different levels
of ability will be offered over the summer months, and special programs will
be presented on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Book Bus will be running to the
park~ again ~this year'~ and .many other programs too numerous to mention will
be happening over the summer~ A Complete descriptive brochure has been dis-
tributed in the elementary schools and additional copies may be picked up
at the library.
Thanks go to Hester Frandsen, Faye Kluk~ Ruth Miller, and Aileen Sturdevant
for the banana bars they baked for the'May senior citizen program. Thanks
also go tO Faye Kluk; Ruth Miller, and Nancy Rathbfin for helPing to serve.
On May 13, Becky was the guest of the Columbia Heights High School work pro-
gram at a breakfast for employers and their student employees. Graduating
senior Denise Becker has been in the Distributive Education section of the
program for the past year, and it has been a productive, positive experience.
Jo and Becky went to the paperback warehouse on May 11 and purchased a lot
of materials for the library patrons' summer reading. They will be available
for borrOWing beginning on Ju~e 7, 1982.
The library has five pages who are graduating seniors this year:

A~drey will be studying to become a legal secretary, Jeanne will be .attend-
ing'St. Ben's, and Joey Will be attending the University of Minnesota.' 'At
a breakfast in their honor* on'Jun~ 1, they Were presented wi~h a small gift
and a'copy of a Library Board of Trustees resolution recognizing their years
of service to the library. We wish them well in their future endeavors.
We also welcome Cheryl Brantner, Pebble Galka, Lynette Johnson, Ellen Sac~,
and Cindy Willman as our new page trainees.
