HomeMy WebLinkAboutMarch 2, 1982COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PUBLIC LIBRARY Report March 2, 1982 Circulation for January proved that it was one of the coldest and snowiest 1981 1982 Adult 5,912 5~4~7 Juvenile 3,537 3,174 moaths on record: LIBGIS statistics for the month of January included 990 reference, d£re~L£onaI A, and 20 directional B questions. Based on a month with 24 working days, this means that the staff answered 41.25 reference, 5,92 directional A, and °03 directional B questions per day. The children's department started preschool story hour programs with 28 registered for Tiny Tots (2~-3½ years old) and 50 registered for regular story hour (g~-5 years old). By February 22, the Winnie-the-Pooh Read- to-Me club had 106 people registered to participate in a combined adult/ child reading club. A valentine workshop was held on February 8, with 24 children producing some fancy, original valentines. Thanks go to Joyce Peterson, danie Polley, Kay Reiners, and Marg Roback for the applesauce spice cakes tshey baked for the January senior citizens~ program. Project Power sponsored a program for the hearing-impaired on income taxes at the library on February 20. The Community Education classes on calligraphy, sewing, and crocheting have been completed, and the GED classes are c~nt£nuing to be well-a~tended. Fine-Free Week was designated for February 16-21, and the most overdue book received was dated February 25, 1959. Just in case you wondered; the fine would be $180, but the library would only be able to collect the price of the book--about $2.50! A limited number of Pocket Gopherp, the Columbia Heights High School newspaper, will be available in the library's pamphlet rack each month beginning in March, 1982, The library's 1981 annual report is completed, and a copy is on file at the library for examination by the public. Becky extends her thanks to everyone who helped prepare and complete the report. Mary is looking for people who would like to display their collections in the library's showcase. There is a lock on the case, and it can hold only a small display. If you are interested, please contact Mary at the library (788-3924) between 9 and 5.
