COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT February 2, 1982 Circulation for the month of December was up from last year: 1980 1981 Adult 4,359' 4;7~7 Juvenile ~673 2~533 ?,032 ?,260 LIBGIS statistics for the month of December included 792 reference, 121 directional A, and 23 directional B questions. Based on a month with 25 working days, this meant that the staff answered 31.68 reference, 4.84 direc- tional A, and .92 directional B questions per day. In the children's department, registration for the next session of pre-school story hour was begun. Two sessions of crafts for elementary- age children were held, but attendance was less than usual because of the bad weather. A movie, "Robin Crusoe, U.S.N.", shown on January 21, drew a crowd of approximately 30 people. Thanks go to Connie Carlson and Nancy Rathbun for the Country Fair Coffee Cakes they baked for the January senior citizens program. Thanks also go to Connie Carlson, Marie Hanson, and Ruth Miller for their help in serving. A selection of Community Education classes was offered at the library during the month. The crocheting, calligraphy, and sewing classes are in full swing, and the G.E.D. classes are drawing more participants than ever. The program sponsored by Metropolitan University had to be cancelled because of the weather, but it will be re-scheduled soon. Response to the library's newsletter, The Sa~pl~, continues to be high and approximately 250 copies were distributed to patrons over the past month. The library has a 1970 World Book Encyclopedia for sale. It has one volume missing, and the price is negotiable. If you are interested, please call Becky at the library.
