REPORT
April 3, 1979
March has been a month of changing personnel at ~he library.
Marilyn Terrell, clerk-typist, has left as of Marc;~ 16, and Alberta Mrosela
has joined the staff as her replacement. Tile staff welcomes her in her n'~ew
position.
The children's department has conducted a crafts program for
elementary children during the month. Jo is also sponsoring a slogan and
poster contest for elementary children to help celebrate National Library
Week, April 2-7. All the posters will be displayed in the library during
April, and the winners, picked by local artist Sharon Hagen, will be
announced during the first week in April.
The library will also hold an informal open house on April 4
from 2-5 p.m. in honor of National Library Week. There will be cookies and
coffee served in the adult reading room and a drawing for a mystery gift.
New books and 100 newly-purchased records will be available for browsing
and checking out. April 4 will also be a "fine free" day, and all books,
no matter how overdue they are, can be returned without fines.
A quilting class taught by Helen Kelley, who is affiliated with
the Minnesota Quilters Association, will be offered April ll, 18, and 25
from lO-12 noon in the library's oak rocm. Registration, which will be
taken e~ither over the phone or in person, is required so that enough~
space can be provided. Participants are asked to bring needles, thread,
s~issors, ruler, pencil, and two pieces of material (appro::imately 1/4
yard of each) to the first session.
Mary, Jo, and Becky have been the guests of Gloria Andrew at the
Control Data Corporation's Information Center and Lib6ary at the main
office complex in Bloomington. They have seen a whole different side of
libraryservice and have been impressed with the~s~ope of services offereo
in a busi.ness library.
The library woul~t'ke ~o thank the following Friends for the
lime~poke~akes they have provided for the March senior citizen program:
Jeanet?~ Eaton
~ita Norberg
Viola
Loretta Spindler
The library has received the employee lockers ordered recently,
and after many harrowing hours of assembling, they are ready for use.
Additional record storage shelves have also been received and will soon
be in use.
The pages have put in long hours of hard work at moving books
and getting the library in shape for National Library Week. Patti Netkow,
the senior page, marks her two-year anniversary with the library
24. The staff congratulates her on her fine work record.
