HomeMy WebLinkAboutJanuary 16, 19791979 COLUY6IA HEIGHTS PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT January 16, 1979 The month of December went by quickly for the library staff, The holidays gave the pages a chance to work some extra hours, and they were put to work on a lot of year-end projects. They helped in up-dating the ltbrery's senior citizen mailing list; weeding out the discard files; sending out fine letters; labelling the mysteries, science fiction, and westerns with new generic labels; and helping finish all the year-end typing and filing. Because Becky was in Ohio for the holidays, Mary was in charge of the adult part of the library and responsible for the pages' work schedule. She did an excellent Job and so did they, and they all deserved the highest coneendattons. · 1o attended a pre-school workshop at the Leamington Hotel and came away with some new ideas for her programs. Becky attended a censor- ship workshop in Sttllwater, and although the bad weather hampered attendance, she felt it was worthwhile. Becky wants to express her thanks to the following people for their help in baking cookies for the December senior citizen program: Gladyce Ball t ngrud Otane Ocel Florence Bennek Connie Carlson Jeanette Eaton Pat Jt ndra Sue Lafeber Ruth Mi 11 er Sue Murzyn Joanne Nelson Kathy Olson 3ante Pol ley Nancy Rathbun Marg Roback Pauline Rustnyak Gladys Spenny Loretta Spindler Ruth Westerberg Rita Norberg Thanks also go to Ruth Miller, Pauline Rusinyak, and Atleen Sturdevant for their help in serving refreshments to the seventy-two people in attendance. The program featured two movies and the Columbia Heights Swingers ch~r, which was comprised of Columbia Heights High School students. The staff enjoyed the first annual Christmas party at Jax Cafe and will definitely be making it an annual event. Becky thanks the staff for the lovely gift and assures them she will get a lot of use out of it. Georgia, the library's pet guinea pig, had a very bad month. She contacted some kind of infection, but after some carefully administered antibiotics and lots of tender lov~.g care, she appears to have recovered.
