Report
March 1, 1977
The circulation at the library has gone up and down with the weather. The
library was closed on Presidents' Day and the next day there was enough
business for two days. It hardly pays to take a day off.
The gas bill for the library in January was estimated and was $98. The last
bill was $500.
Our carpet has now recovered from being wet, though it will still need clean-
ing. The plumbing bill for the frozen water pipe was $191. We seem to have
two choices--pay gas bills or pay the plumber.
Mrs. Norberg gave an interesting talk to the mothers groups about antique
collecting, and the Fire Department sent representatives to exhibit fire
detectors and talk about fire safety. People were really appreciative of
the chance for this information.
The collection has been enlarged by free government publications on subjects
of popular interest. Also there are new books from the Wallace-Homestead
Press on collectibles such as antique jewelry, baseball cards, and glass-
ware of the depression times.
Becky and Mrs. Deeble attended a seminar at the University of Minnesota on
women's role in libraries. We decided not to worry about our image.
Last Tuesday there were twenty-one people studying in the library at one
time. These people are mainly using our reference and periodical collections.
The children's programs have been well attended in good weather and poorly
attended in bad. We are hoping for a wet, unflooded, undtsastrous spring.
