HomeMy WebLinkAboutAugust 5, 1975 REPORT COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PUBLIC LIBRARY AUGUST 5, 1975 The new drapes have arrived from the decorators, and the air conditioning systems are finally working again, so everyone is comfortable. It seems to the staff that the drapes really add to the attractiveness of the building. The Senior Citizens are meeting again this next week, and if any of the Friends of the Library are up to baking we'd be glad of their help. Becky has made posters to display in the new Parkview Villa to advertise our Senior Citizens' program. This should be a captive audience for our films and refreshments. C.E.T.A. has made available some help for city personnel. Hope- fully, a clerk could be found for the library to take Terry's place this fall. If not, we hope to use part-time help temporarily. 58% of the year has elapsed and 57% of the budget has been spent. 61% of the utiliq¥ budget has been spent so we are hoping for a more moderate fall. There is an additional bill for architect's fees of $1,530.~n, or 102 hours at $15.0~ per hour that will have to come from the remodeling budget so far. Hopefully we can keep any additional fees to a minimum. The city is planninq a reception for the Vietnamese family new to the community. The library has been suggested as an appropriate place. The administration has set up a meeting for the Library Board ard the Council on September 9th to discuss the 1976 budget. It will probably be possible to hold the regular meeting on the same evening. Keep September 9th in mind.
