HomeMy WebLinkAboutFebruary 6, 1974COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PUBLIC LIBRARY Report for February 6, 1974 A new adult study group dealing with the books "I'm OK! You"re OK" byThomas Harris and "Born to Win" by Muriel James has begun at the library. The first session was held Monday evening and there was good attendance and interest. Before it is too late, look at the new couch covers while you can still compare the old ones with the new ones. Like day and night and a bargain besides. The craft classes are over subscribed. The item about the Library in the City Newsletter seemed to spur attendance and circulation. There were about7$ children between Kindergarten and third grade last Tuesday a week ago. Attendance fluctuates greatly with the weather, particularly with WCCO storm warnings. At the film program two weeks ago there was an overflow 175. We're anxious to know if we reached any new Senior Citizens with the newsletter. The FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY met again last week and volunteered to help with our summer program preparations. Not only will they furnish valuable time and material, but have also come up with creative ideas. Some work organization is now in order. Two of the FRIENDS are working as volunteers at the library. Marcy Schlaeger is helping take care of returned books on Tuesday and Connie Carlson is helping on Thursday. The book orders are coming in regularly. ~e have had good comments on how available the current books are. It is our intention to clear out our old magazines and newspapers for which there are microfilm. Is there any place to recycle old magazines? The City crew has been very helpful in getting the snow cleared out of the parking lot before all the mothers and staff come for story hour. He're very thankful for this. It must be saving many fender benders. Also some of the mothers are running car pools to story hour Such a fine conscientious group! COL~BIA HEI~HT$ P~BLIC LIBbeY Erpenditurem .
