REPORT JANUARY 0,1974
DECEMBER WAS A VERY QUIET MONTH HERE AT THE LIBRARY EXCEPT FOR
A FEW EVENTS.
THE SENZOR CITIZENS GATHERING WAS A HUGE SUCCESS. OVER 100
SENIOR CITIZENS ATTENDED. THE CENTRAL ~IUN~R HIGH CHOIR
ENTERTAINED JOYFULLY ANO THE BELL RINGERS FROM FIRST LUTHERN
ALL RANG ON TIME. THE "FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY" GROUP HAO
CALLED RETIREO PEOPLE TELLING THEM ABOUT THE PROGRAM ANO
THEN HELPED FURNISH THE REFRESHMENTS AND THEN SERVED. IT WAS
A WONOERFUL DAY AND EVERYONE SEEMEO TO BE PLEASANTLY ENTERTAINEO.
W£ ARE WONDERING HOH MANY WILL COME THIS MONTH.
JO HAD A CARTOON PROGRAM FOR THE CHILDREN DURING CHRISTMAS
VACATION AND SOME EXTRA HOUSEKEEPING CHORES WERE IX)NE.
1,115 PEOPLE FROM COLUMBIA HEIGHTS REGISTERED FOR LIBRARY CARDS
DURING 1973 AND 461 MORE PEOPLE FROM NEIGHBORING COMMUNITIES
ARE USING THE COLUMBIA HEIGHtsLIBRARY.
THREE STORY HOURS FOR PRE-SCHOOL CHILDREN ARE FULL ANO A
COURSE IN TRANSACTIOUAL ANALYSIS IS BEING CONSIOEREO FOR
MONDAY NIGHTS. THIS GREW OUT OF A STUO¥ OF THE BOOK, I'M O.K,_
YOU'RE O.K..
THE MICROFILM READER PRINTER HAS ARRIVED AND MICROFILM HAS
BEEN ORDERED TO FILL IN SOME OF OUR MISSING MAGAZINES.
THREE THOUSAND RIO HUNDRED AND EIGHTY NEW BOOKS WERE ADDED
TO THE LIBRARY DURING THIS YEAR.
OUR UTILITY BILL FOR 1973 WAS $570. OO LESS THAN 1972. THIS
REFLECTS ENERGY CONCERN AND A MILDER YEAR.
THIS IS THE STAFF'S WISH FOR EVERYONE-_---- A MILDER 1974.
