HomeMy WebLinkAboutNovember 7, 1973 REPORT NOVEMBER 7,1973 The first meeting of the Friends of the Library was held October 24th with 14 in attendence, 3 were absent, A Secretary and Treasurer were elected. Mrs, Grass from the state organization was present. The next meeting will be in January. Possible projects for the "Friends" were considered: a paperback exchange, Volunteer woek in the l i:,~',:,'. library, books for shut ~ns and updating the Senior Citizen lists. Two new projectors were purchased for the library - one an 8 MM- with unexpected t4elsa funds. Other projects should be taken care of with additional funds this year. Three of the staff attened the Book Fair and dinner at the University of Minnesota celecrating book week. The author, Gerald IAtDermatt, showed slides and books he had produced. Good book suggestions were available. The railing for the basement steps bas been installed and should make the entrance sofer for Senior Citizens. The basement meeting room is in use nearly every evening in the week. The Red Cross safety classes on Wednesdays are the latest program. Two of the staff are enrolled. The cleaning service finally cleaned the basamer~t meeting room after much nagging, and promises to do better in the future. The Christmas craft class starts today. A limited number of children seem interested, The adult circulation had improved steadily over the year and now some4~ surpasses t~e cumber of cbtldrens book.
