Report - August 1, 1973
Thingg have quieted down finally at the library, although July was as busy as every.
The puppet club is readying a puppet carnival for September 8th. The folks have made
their own puppets and are preparing booths for penny shows.
In looking around for programs for the young adults, the staff has been considering a
Laurel & Hardy evening or a Drama club. We are investigating activities that other communities
have used successfully. If an addition were to be built on to the library, some provision could be
made for this type of activity.
Fall seems to be just around the corner. Mothers are already registering for pre-school
story hour and mothers' discussion groups.
New shrubs for the front of the library are being considered and will be ordered through
the Park Board.
Such a lot of commotion is eliminated in the main library by the use of the front steps.
Still a door to the adult reading room would make for more undisturbed studying for adults.
We've heard from one of our employees who is now the Children's Librarian at Monterey,
California. Her theme for this summer was "Reading is Wild" and she displayed native wild
animals including iguana and boa constrictors. We're considering adopting her plans for next
summer.
Household chores are being accomplished. Once again we have arranged non-fiction
books to make more room. More shelves will be needed in 1975. Upward and onward!
