HomeMy WebLinkAboutMay 3, 1972Columbia Heights Public Library Report - May 3, 1972 The Library %leek programs were a complete success. Over seventeen hundred children saw the book play and afterwards asked for library cards or the books that were mentioned. Sister Helen Clare (Principal of Imma- culate Conception School) saw the last performance and thought it so worthwhile that she encouraged us to make it a yearly event. The actors were borrowed from the fifth grade at ICS and we had such wonderful coop- eration with the schools. The children were allowed to rehearse during school hours and gave seven performances. The public school sent bus loads of students to watch and the mothers brought pre-school folks and encouraged the schools to send the rooms their children were in. We shouldn't fail to mention the art exhibits from the high school and grade school children. Ue had a gay week. Someone again tried to break into the gun range. No outside locks were tampered ~th as far as we could see. It is a mystery how they got in the basement. The police arrested my cleaning boy when someone reported a boy in the library, They finally took the handcuffs off when we con- vinced them he didn't need to break in--he had a key. Maybe we have ghosts. Not another thing in the library was touched. The guns certainly seem to be an added attraCtion. It happened during library week. %~ are now busy planning our summer programs. Reading, reports, and story hours will fill a great deal of our time. Some housekeeping chores will have to be attended to. The cleaning service has been doing a good job on the regular chores except for the buffing of the library lobby. Our book orders have been coming in rather slowly~, but ~*ill soon catch up. We are looking forward to a busy summer. Books & Magazines: Anoka County Library The Bookmen Columbia Heights Public Library Expenditures - May 3, 1972 Doubleday & Co. J. E. Ferguson Pub. Co.
