Report - October 1971
The circulation figures continue at a high rate. Septem-
ber of 1971 was abou~l~OOOmore than that of '70 and October
ham been a busy month too.
Ar~ Club is meeting again on Monday evenings, A Christmas
Craft Class is using the basement on Wednesdays, The Senior
Citizens outdid themselves again this month. There were 55
attending. (We seem to be getting quite a reputation for
desserts.) There aren't quite as many pre-schoolers as last
year but it makes for more manageable groups.
Next month is Book Week. A short story contest will be
held and a schedule of movies shown for elementary school
children.
The librarian has contacted the Anoka County Library
regarding book purchasing but no definite formula has been
arranged.
The Anoka City Library Board of Trustees has indicated an
interest in meeting with the Columbia Heights Library Board
to learn more about the variety of programs that the Columbia
Heights Library has to offer. A meeting time will be set,
There will be a Wednesday afternoon Craft Class during
January, February and ~.~rch for Kindergarten through 4~ grade.
We found the children spending their time here so thought it
would be well to give them something to do and try and interest
them in books.
Some of the staff will be attending the Education Depart-
ment of the U of Minnesota Book Week celebration on October
26m. A children's author will be the guest speaker.
Mrs. Dedering and Mrs. Ingvarsson attended and set up
the displays for the trustees branch of the Minnesota Library
Association meetings October 9m.
The childrens' side of the library has been carpeted,
the shelves felted and the bean bag chairs installed. After
all it looks very attractive and the noise factor has been
cut down several hundred decibals. Now it is a little quiet
in the library.
