Report - May, 1971
According to the stafft Library Week was a hu.g~ success, Well over two
thousand children visited the library for the puppet shows that week and the art
work from the high school adds such a highlight. We are very fortunate to have
them take all the time and trouble to give our patrons such a treat. They say
they will be back again next year.
Some other arrangements will have to be made for keeping the basement
floor clean. Possibly next year a periodic cleaning could be included in the
bid for the janitor service.
The furniture in the lounge area needs cleaning during the summer, so es-
timates wiI1 be taken.
The librarians and any of the trustees that wish to have been invited to
attend a meeting of the ~LSA participating members May 26~ in the afternoon at
the Minneapolis Public Library, It should be an educational experience.
Public school classes are requesting appointments to visit the library
before school is over to get acquainted and hear about the summer programs.
The librarian will be going around to the seven schools and reminding the
c]~ildren about summer activities.
The activities have been scheduled with vacations in mind so that the
folks won't be disappointed. The college girls will be helping sub~ituting~
during the summer.
The new books have been arriving regularly on a periodic basis so that
processing has been prodeeding without difficulty.
The cooperation with Anoka County has become routine.
The accounting department at the City Office has not posted any of the
expenditures of last month yet, so it is not possible to give ami accounting of
~uything but books. It seems that they were too busy making annual and quar-
terly reports. Maybe next month things will be in better order.
The park board has been fertilizing and spraying for dandelions on the
library grounds. We hope to get some black ~irt when the house next door is
moved.
