It is apparent that there are a great many more easy books being used than
last year. This may be due to the increase in easy-to-read books available,
but there are also a great many more adult books being used. Maybe the col-
lection is better and maybe the weather is ideal for reading and maybe people
can't afford other amusements and maybe people are just better acquainted
with libraries and probably TV is just terrible.
Mrs. Dedering attended the Governor's Conference on Libraries and will
be ~eporting.on it.
The city has not as yet posted any o£ the expenditures for February or
March, so our accounting is very incomplete. We'll hope to catch up next
month. The city has purchased the house and part of the lot behind the library
for welcome additional parking area.
The Anoka County Library is preparing to pay the quarterly amount from
MELSA and it will amount to ~899, this month. This may help us to serve the
additional patrons we are having.
The eighth graders are doing their annual country reports. Some of the
titles of their projects are quite phenomenal; for instance--six sources on
the musical instruments of Panama. We have hired a Junior High wrestling
coach to ~ake charge of the children's side of the library in the evenings.
We corral these folks and the books and try and keep them under control in one
room. This seems to be working better than anything we've tried any other year.
Yhere are not so many ha~ers-on here for fun and games and the people seem to
be actually trying to accomplish something.
Well, Senior Citizens on Wednesday, etc., etc.
