The library was closed December 24th, 25th, and 26th according to a polisy
established by a preceeding board whereby the library is open on the legal
holidays during the school year when the schools are in session and closed
near the Christmas holidays when such action ineonvenienGes v~ry few people.
Possibly this Board might again like to take some action either to affirm
this policy or revise it. It is estimated that about $150.O0 in salaries
is saved by this proGedure,
Sister Theresa of Saint Catherine's College in St, Paul is bringing a group
of her students to the Columbia Heights Library to be instructed in story
telling by Miss Jo on January 19th. Sh~ will be describing story telling
techniques and how to produce puppet shows.
Two estimates have been received for tiling the basement. Both seem rather
'high~ but it would be a good time to have it done while busines~ is slow,
%re could use more names of firms who would be interested in bidding on the
work,
Students are again using the library to supplement the school libraries.
Adult patronage faultered very little during the Christmas season. Story
hours are again in full swing.
Thirty three Qolumbia Heights residents received Minneapolis library cards
during DeGember and fifty four Minneapolis residents received Columbia
Heights library Gards. This makes a total of ninety Colmmbia Heights res-
idents using Minneapolis library cards and eighty thre~ Minneapolis res-
idents.are using the Columbia Heights library.
Saturday morning ar~ classes will be resumed January 24th, There will be
two classes at 10:00 and 11:30~
A Gomplete report on 1969 activities will be given at the next Board meet-
