COLUmbIA HElq)HTS PUBLIC LIBRARY
March Report
Because of the construction, some of the use of the children's
side of the library was lost during the month of February. The shelves
for the children's room were somewhat delayed and set the completion
of the first floor room back about a )reek. Consequently, the Senior
Citizens ~ill be meeting in the large adult room of the library in March.
Today a movie for the children is being held downstairs. They seem
to like going downstairs very much. It does not seem like a cellar anymore.
Some additional paint has been purchased to match the yellow so
that we can continue to keep the rooms looking fresh and clean.
The MELSA organization has furnished registration blanks for all
non-resident patrons. This should save some time and confusion. Also,
the library cards will now contain the information that each card holder
is entitled to use all libraries in the MELSA area.
Story hour is being held in the ne~ room in the basement, and the
mothers have been meeting in the recreation and craft room. The mothers
much more readily take part in the discussions now that they are not
exposed to the public, and they enjoy their privacy. The public also
enjoys the freedom of the use of the large reading room.
b!e are planning on catching up on our microfilm supply. There will
be a 3-year span to catch up on. This should amount to a purchase close
to $750.00.
The records purchased during the Gear seem to be especially appreciated
and we have invested in another record browser.
The intercom system is in use between the basement and the first floor,
and we are trying to get used to it. As soon as the city has the use of
its new phone system, we will have additional facilities installed also.
There are a great many things still to be done and about lO,O00 books
to be moved this week.
