The girls from the Immaculate Conception school putting on the puppet shows are doing an outstanding job as actresses, So far there have been about 200 pre-school children and their mothers atten- ding, 270 first graders, 90 second graders, 120 third graders, and tomorrow around 1OO fourth graders. This adds up to about 780 children so far and on Saturday the public is invited.. Possibly an audience of 10OO will attend altogether. It is doubtful if anyone will miss knowing about "Book Week" in Columbia Heights. It is wonderful to have the use of the tape recorder and the phonograph for the programs, The black-out drapes (contributed by the mothers and the Mrs. Jaycees) have finally been installed in the adult reading room, Mr. Burton has been talking with the mothers about reading readiness for their pre-school children. A survey concerning additional interests for Senior Citizens is being con. sidered. Other libraries-are interested in the things that Columbia Heights library is trying, and we are always interested in improving our programs, Well, on toward Christmas and more activities. The choir from Immaculate Conception school (about 95 voices) will sing carols for the Senior Cit~. -izen's gathering next month. The lights for the front of the building should be in in a week or two and the possibility of a sign is being considered,
