September 1966's c~rculation figure was 8~63~ and September 1967 was IO~095o 0ete~, 19gg was 10,~19 and October, 1967 was 1~,352, an increase of nearly 6.O00 for two months° Some of this increase is due to additiona~ use of the libz~ by the studen~ of iCC and ~ome to the e~-~Luded prog~ams of the library that enable people to ge2 acquainted ~th the facilities° The thr~e pre-school storyho~u-e are ~u full s~ngo ~'ne~e are about ~20 children registered. The attendance pattern is over ?~o For Book Week. puppet plays were produced for the pre-school children and other classes asking to visit the libra. It '~urned out to be an. interesting and strenuou~ week. The puppet stage wes constructed By the ~ndustrial arts classes under the direction of ~tr. J~u'kowitch. ~'~e a~e e~pec~a~ly gratifu~ to him for his exper~ wor~nship. The at, ge is really workable and an additional featt~e.e portable. ~e (~ukwood ~A has requemted that the staff provide a program for the November meeting and a play by some of the puppet club members will Be a .part of the pr~sentationo ~e tht,k that we have licked the dirty carpet problem at least temporarily. The carpet was spotted from oll from the street and bids for cleaning it were submitted for over $4OO by the Expert Cleaning Service and for ~275 for Service Master Cleaners. However, Sera. ice Master Cleaners recommended an aercsol cleaner called $olvoil that we tried. One of the page girls ~ent around and spot cleaned a few of the spots every day when she c-ams !:~ to work, and in a few weeks the entire carpet seemed clean. ~e have now purchased a supply of this cleaner and hope to keep the building looking more attractive with this small expenditure of time and money. There is some need for spot cleaning of the walls and maybe we can figure some way to do this without warping the budget. O~r future plans call for a holiday puppet show for the children and possibly another session of the s~udents art classes. Art classes for both adults and children have been held during the fall. We are looktr~ forward to attempting programs for the Senior Citizens during the coming year, but as yet have not decided on a format. The ~hole idea is challenging. With the holiday season approaching, we hope to have some time for some badly needed housekeeping chores during a usually rather quiet time at the Libraru. In case we don't get another opportunity, we wish you all a renewing holidayo 8 EXPENDITURES September - October AND MAGAZINES: Americem ~l. bz.a~ Association ~k Antiques.....Colo~ ~tiques. ....... ~., .... . ............... ...,. ............ 13.95 ~tter Ho~s and ~de~ ....
