CO1,U~4BiA H£IGHTS PU3LlC LIBRARY MARCH & AP~,IL Beginning with the circulation figures seems to be customary~ March was 13~865~ some 3700 more than a year ago~ The projected April figure is 13~O~ another increase of approximately 3000. Even with the slow start in January and February this year's total to date is 483000 and increase of 6600 o~er last year~ ~ere is never a dull moment. The art exhibit was an unqualified success~ ~:ere were 57 chiidren~s entries and 46 adults entries. With no public!t~ it was decided to be open Sunday~ April 16~ for a couple of hours to p~rmit friends of the ~hibitors to vistt~ ~er I~ people cameo Another year more definite plans will be made for this event~, Hr~ Rasmussen of the High School art department has agreed to work with us next year in coordinating the program. He had s~vera! specific suggestions to make~ The Pre-school Story Hour program continues to be po!:ular and already ~e have trants for next fall~ There may be a possibt],ity of enlarging the progra~ in the fall if interest warrants it. The summer program is under consideration° A story hour for primary school children is being planned. A reading contest is being organized and a p~ ppet c!uh is underway. An art class has been requested ~nd is bei~ invest!gat~d~ Miss Scudder atteaded a seminar at the Anoka County Library concernimT Story Hours. She came back with some helpful innovations. Some of th~ Staff members plan to attend a seminar held at the Anoka County Librar" ia regard to referemce work in the Library. This meeting is to be held 1Om. The librarian ~ill attend in the morning and the staff members in the afternoom~ New books are ar~iving slow!y~ The planned a~dition of about 2000 volu-e~ will probably generate another increase in circulation° The staff is looking forward to another busy spring and summer~
