MARCH & APRIL 1966
In spite of our enforced additional holiday (blizzard) :r~
March our circulation climbed to an all time high for a school
mO~h~ 11~088 Wa8 the amount, one thousand more than
a year ago when we also had blizzards~ April ~s figures are a
projected 10:OOO~ about 2500 more than last years probably
due in part to the fact %hat we have had few days for the
children to play o~tside or the women to start their house~
cleaning~ .The increased percentage of adult users is especially
pleasing= Our evenings and Saturdays are really busy o
The pre-school Story Time has really been successful° Las~
~ursday there were about 35 little people as well as their
mothers° By experimentation and study,:~ we have learned some
things theft we hope to incorporate in the program when we have
our new facilities~ It may not be practically to try and con~
tinue this program during the summer months but we will cer~
tainly start again in the fall~.
We are starting to recruit our teen-age volunteers for
summer helping~ If these folks can be trained a few at a
time~ it makes for a smoother operation~ We hope to have a
social time for the folks that have been so loyal this winter
and to introduce new helpers~ Some formal recognition should
be made of these folks substantial contribution~
The month of May will be a busy one %~th preparation for
the summer reading program~ Talks will be made at all of the
grade schools and the Junior High English students will hold
classes a~ the library to learn about the books available for
their smnmer enjoyment° Practice reading during the sum~er
months is emphasized by the teachers and principals°
We are anticipating~ with some qualms~ mowing day~ when all
the content~ of the present building will be moved to the new
construction to make way for the remodeling of the present
library~ However~ some of the teachers have offered to bring
their students and give a helping hand~ Any and all offers
are gladly accepted°
This h~ been a very pleasant winter~ and profitable, too:
ws hope~ Now if the Twins can only win!
