During the past months many sbudents were finding helpful research
material,, This use of the library do~s not show up in the circulation
figures~ In order to make better u~e of the books that cannot be taken
out of the library~ we have purchased a copying machine~ The patrons
pay 5~ a copy for each page and ma~ ha~e as many pages of books copied as
they wish~ We also hope to round up more material on Columbia Heights
history and co y it for our
We have added four more sets of shelves to the library? By the
end of the year there wi].] be very little floor space left~ The
shelves were purchased directl~ from the manufacturer at the savings of
over 40%~
The latest book orders haw been about 80% adult non=fiction-.
We are striving to have adequate coverage on subjects of general ln~.
terest and material of current concern° A new set of science and tech-~
nological encyclopedias has been ordered~, The more books we have the
more our reputation grows and ~he more we need~
I have enrolled in another clas, s at the Universit~ this quarter,,
It is an advanced course in lZbrary ~anagement~ Maybe it will teach
librarians how to get good books free~
The library year of 196~ nas alreadJ started off with a bango We
hope that it will be better than ev9r~, May your 1965 be the best year
