Bi-monthly report
July 8, 1963
The circulst%on report is amazing: For the
month of June, 8,571 books were ,~ircul~ted. This is a
raise of 3484 over June s year ago.
Almost 300 students have enrolled in the summer
reading program. The studeuts seem to be still inter-
ested in spite of knowing that there are no material
comFensations.
The book budget h~s been practically exhausted.
This was intentional .since we w;n~ed ~11 the books we
could offer for the increased summer readers.
The new shelves were added Memorial D~y. This
r~lieves some of the shelf congestion. For ne>t year
it ~ould be interesting to con~ider n~rrow shelves
for the pocket books ~nd ~ book return. Also think
over ~he possibility of a book co?ier.
The money for ertrp s~l~ries ?id out this year
f~r is $1,.740.60. For this s~me 7eriod l~st yea9
$1,075.12 was used.
The circulation for the first six :~onths this
year is 41,184. For the s~me Teriod l~st year it
1900 new ~-ooks h~ve been catalogued so far this
year w~th about 1CO more to cataloi{ue.
270 new subs2ribers have been added ~ince the
first of June ..~nd 1,02/ sinc~ J.~nuary first.
crystal ball for the future would be helpful.
