O~r clrc~is.t~on total for l.:arch amounted] to: ~,605. For ~arcl': of Ia. st year, ~'.~e gave out ~,104 ~!eces of library materials. ~fe had a ne~ increase of 499 for the month of ~ ~-~:~ r c A. I~ April of lsst year, we had a total circulation of a'a even 4,000. ?fe increased that to .4,22~. this year for s ::~odest i~creasefo~F-'~ge~or cot ~.ster month this yesr. Breskln~ ~own our fi::'ures for ::srch, last year z.~e circulated 1200 adult books and 2,80~ children's books. This year, adults accounted ?or i~7~ of our circulation, an i:ocrease of 378. Children read 3020 for an increase of 216. In A?ril of last year, adults took out 1,203 books, compared to 1410 this year for an increase of 207 books. Children used 2,797 items last year, compared to 2,~18 this year for'~,~ small increase of 21. The number of library ca. r8s continues to mount. If circulation has not increased proportionately, i think that we may attribute that to ~he fact that not all adults or children read ss constantly or consistently at all times of the year. They will use their cards very enthusiastically for a time snd then 'gut them aside u;abi! they have a need for somethin~ to do or some 0rob!em comes up for ~.~:~ich they feel tcey may find ~e!o~ ~.~,~ the llbrary.
