HomeMy WebLinkAboutSeptember 29, 2003 COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES MINUTES September 29, 2003 The meeting was called to order by Chair, Barbara Miller at 6:32 p.rn. Those members present were Barbara Miller, Nancy Hoium, Patricia Sowada, and Becky Loader. Board member, David Holmgren, and Councilmember Julienne Wyckoff were not in attendance. It was moved, seconded, and passed to approve the minutes of the September 2,2003, Board meeting as mailed. Bill list dated 9/22/03 was reviewed. It was moved, seconded, and passed that they be paid. The accounting was reviewed. Catherine Vesley joined the meeting at 6:35 p.rn. Old Business: 1. Personnel update was provided. a. The library could possibly loose two pages in December. b. Mindy Hicks will be on family/medical leave from approximately December 8 until March. 2. Open House plans were discussed. a. The date is December 3, 2003. b. Event will take place from noon until 7:00 p.rn. c. Mayor Julienne Wyckoff will cut the cake at 12:30. d. Various events will take place during the day. e. Catherine and Pat are still looking for a red wagon. f. Possible give-away items are still being explored. 3. Books presented by the Lomianki visitors were shared with the Board. These items have been added to the database and are available for patrons. The letter and book sent by Columbia Heights to the Lominaki library were reviewed. Bernie Szymczak was kind enough to deliver the book on his recent trip to Poland. 4. Foundation meeting to induct the "new" members will be held on October 7, 2003, at 7:00 p.rn. in the Library Board Roorn. Nancy Hoium and Catherine Vesley will not be in attendance that evening. 1 New Business: 1. Date for the November Library Board meeting was discussed. The meeting date does not have to be changed since there are no elections to be held in the City of Columbia Heights this year. The regular Library Board meeting will take place on November 4,2003 at 7:00 p.rn. 2. Preparations for the Budget meeting to follow were discussed. The agenda was reviewed and possible questions were discussed. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 6:57 p.rn. Respectfully submitted, Jeanine M.
