HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 98-05RESOLUTION ~ BEING A RESOLUTION EXTENDING RETIREMENT BENEFITS TO CONSOLIDATED P.E.RA. POLICE EMPLOYEES WHEREAS, the MinnesoLa Legislature recently adopted pemi~ reform and uniformity legislation which includes a change increasing the retirement multiplier for police and fire employees who are active members of the P.E.R.A. Police and Fire Fund on July 1, 1997, from 2.65 per cent to three per cent per year of service, and WHEREAS, the legislation includes a change i~ing the retirement multiplier for police and fire employees who are active members of the consolidated Police and Fire Relief Association on July 1, 1997, to 2.9 per cent per year of service, and WHEREAS, ~ 233 Article I, Section 46 requires City Council approval in order for consolidated Police and Fire Relief Association members to receive the increased multiplier of three per cent, and WHEREAS, there are three employees of the Columbia Heights Police Department who are members of the consolidated Police Relief Association; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City hereby approves the new retirement multiplier of three per cent for all employees of the Columbia Heights Police Department who are members of the consolidated Police Relief A~sociation, effective January 1, 1998.
