HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 987 (2)ORDINANCE NO. 987 BEING AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 853, CITY CODE OF 1977, PERTAINING TO ORGANIZATION OF CO~9~ISSIONS AND BOARDS The City Council of the City of Columbia Heights does ordain: Section 1: Section 3.104(1) of Ordinance No. 853, City Code of 1977, passed June 23, 1977, which reads as follows, to- wit: "3.104 (1) Members of advisory Commissions and Boards shall be appointed by majority vote of the Council and serve without compensation, except as otherwise provided. (a) Ail Commission and Board members serving in office at the time of enactment of this Code shall continue for their full term of office pursuant to the provisions of the previous enactments of the Council establishing said terms. Subsequent terms of office shall commence in January, except where otherwise provided. (b) Any vacancy arising because of disqualification, re- signation, or other reason, prior to the expiration of a term of office, shall be filled by appointment of the Council for the remainder of the unexpired term. (c) Ail Commission and Board members shall serve for the prescribed terms of office at the pleasure of the Council. Should a member's term expire without the Council having appointed a successor, such member shall remain in office until such time as a successor is appointed. is herewith amended to read as follows: 3.104(1) Members of advisory Commissions and Boards shall be appointed by majority vote of the Council and serve without compensation, except as otherwise provided. Provided, however, that the term of each Council member serving on a Board or Commission shall commence upon that member's appointment at the first regular meeting of the Council in January of each year, and such term shall terminate at the commencement of the first regular meeting of the Council in January of the succeeding year. Section 2: "3. 104 (3) 3.104(3) Section 3: (b) Any vacancy arising because of disqualification, resignation, or other reason, prior to the expiration of a term of office, shall be filled by appointment of the Council for the remainder of the unexpired term. (c) Ail Commission and Board members shall serve for the prescribed terms of office at the pleasure of the Council. Section 3.104(3) of Ordinance No. 853, City Code of 1977, passed June 23, 1977, which reads as follows, to-wit: The Manager may and upon direction of the Council, shall designate a member of the administrative service to serve as an administrative advisor to any Commission or Board." is herewith amended to read as follows: The Manager may and, upon direction of the Council, shall designate a member of the administrative service to serve as an administrative advisor to any Commission or Board. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after thirty (30) days after its passage.
