Special Meeting
June 2, 1950
Special Meeting of the City Council was called to order at 8:15 P.M.~ Mayor
Prestemon pr~esided, and councilmen present w~re Lange, Yencho and Spekulant.
Absent was councilman Trench.
Motion by Lange seconded by Spekulant that the City Manager serve as the Council
Secretary for this particular meeting. Roll Call - All Ayes.
A letter was read from E.P. Hartry, 3821 Reservoir Blvd, relativ~ to a building
permit for the basement of a garage attached to the basement home. After
considerable discussion with Mr. Hartry and the building inspector, an agreement
was reached that alterations would be made to comply with the building code, and
the permit~ approved by the inspector.
The question of extending the sanitary sever trunk line on 38th from 2½ to 3rd
Street, and a latteral on Third Street from 37th to 38th, and extending toward
Edgemore for a distance of four lots was discussed.
Motion by Spekulant seconded by Lange that the City Manager check present
commitments, and balance available for construction work, and if it is found
that there is sufficient money available, said project be authorized.
Roll Call - All Ayes.
Lotion by Lange sebonded by Spekulant that the City Nanager be-instructed to
obtain the balance of the building inspection cards from the former building
inspector, and turn them over to the new inspector~ arriving at a settlement
on the division of the fees. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Notion by Lange seconded by Spekulant that ~here sewer and water connections
are allowed, other than on lots where regular assessments have been made, that
a connection fee equal to the amount of the average assessment on the line to
be used be paid, but at not less than a 40 foot lot, said fee to apply against
the regular assessment at such time as sewer and/or water rosins are laid on the
property in question. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Notion by Yencho seconded by Spekulant that the following licenses be granted
at the re gular annual fee:
Harry Lerner ....... 1900 Thomas Ave. North, Mpls.,---Pin Ball and Juke Box
at Vane Switzer's restaurant, ~000 Central Avenue. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Motion by Lange seconded by Yencho that a street improvement program be approved
whereby road 8iling is placed on an annual assessable basis, with the property
o~ners given an opportunity to pay by being billed directly prior to the levying
'of the assessment. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Notion by Spekulant seconded by Yencho that the following 60-day permits for
trailer occupancy be granted from June 15th:
