The matter was turned over to the city engineer for ~nvestigation. Au?ust Peterson discussed the matter of a drain to take care of water which accu~.~ulates in the vicinity of h2nd and Central Ave. from the eas~. Motion by Lange, seconded by Yencho to turn the matter over to the city engineer for investigation of v,~at is needed, and that the city manager con,tlr vdth +~o city ~ ~ as ~ether .. a~torney to there is any liability on behalf of the city. Ave. to hth Street. Roll Call - Ail A~ms. Bentzen, as representative of the Col~mbia Heights Commercial~ Club, made the recommendations for the bette~ent of the City. ]. B~siness streets should be cleaned regu!ari!y, especially on Central Ave. ~erchants should see that their side,s!ks are swept each mornins and some arrange- ments made to have the street washed regutarily. 2. Residents of Columbia Heights should be made aware af the fact that they should be careful to ~ive their mail~ng address as Col~..bia Heiehts, ~/inn. at all times, but especially ~;.~cn bu~n~ Fire Insurance. if they will do ~his,. the Fire Depart- .ment ~;il~ receive a tvm percent benefit from the State which is used for additional e?~ip?ent or the retirement f~md. The doors on the Fire Barn should be painted. .~. letter from the Commercial Club was read vd_th regard to a V, hitel Way lighting ~,ys ~m on o~ntral Ave. The matter was turned over to the City. ~!anager to secure data and report at a later date. The Park Board reported that after investigation, the [o~ 12, 13, 14 and 1~ ~llock $, Rosyln Park, offered to the City £or a p!aygromnd be refused. This board advised that the School Board owms property in the vicinity, and will give pe~ission to use part of it for a playground. The Fire Department submitted a letter to the effect that carefut~ thought should ~,e ~ven t~ the murchase of a new fire truck in the near future. Jmmes Robinette brought up the matter of clesminz smd rust proofing the interior of the city water tank, reportin~ the cost wmuld como under ~00.00. The matter was taken under advisement.
