~eeting called to order at 8:10 P.E. Ail members present.
~inutes c~ the last meeting were read and approved.
A discussion took place again regarding sever mains on 38th Avenue ~st of Unive~rsity
and the definite need for same. ~otion by Spekula~b seconded by Trench, that the
City Engineer be instructed to estimate~the cost of putting in water on Arthur street
and 3rd street and sewer on Cleveland~ together with the cost of putting the streets
back in shaoe. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Theo. Anderson requested that 2½ Street be filled in bet~en 38th and 39th Avenue
so that a gas main could be installed, this to be done immediately so that gas
could be installed this summer.
A special meeting was set for Tuesday August 1st, to meet~ with Hagtund and Blair
engineers and Ur. Orfei, to try to arrive at a eolution of the sewer situation on
2nd street.
Several oarties were in that live in Ramsey County near Silver Lake, asking for
permission to connect to our Water main. The City Council stated they were
favorable to do this and would have a report to make at our next regular meeting.
Mrs. Carl Williams was in asking permission to live in a house on 2nd street and
39th Avenue, that has been condemned smd she was told to work this out with the
Building inspector.
Al. Segebarth ~s in ahd stated he had lost his lease at 5~7 - ~Oth Avenue and
asked if he could hold his License until he found another place of business.

the Police for their investigation:

Second' reading of Ordinance No.267, Being an Ordiflance to amend Ordinance #171 the
same b~ing an Ordinance entitled~ "An Ordinance for the purpose of promoting Health~
Safety, Order, Convenience and General ,Welfare by' Regulating the use of Land, the
location and the use of buildings and the arrangehent of building lots and the
density of population in the City of Colmmbia Heights."
Orinance No.267 offered by Spekulant seconded by Lange. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Second reading of Ordinance No.268, Being an Ordinance to amend Ordinance #171
the same being an Ordinance entitled, "An Ordinance for the purpose of promoting
Health, Safety, Order, convenience and general welfare by regulating the yse of
land, the location and the use of Buildings and the arrangement of building lo~s
and the Density of population in the City of Columbia Heights."

A letter was received from the N.W. Bell Telephone Co. requesting permission to
place conduit and one manhole in order to reinforce a present conduit run in the
east side of Central Avenue between 40th and 45 Avenue N.E. Motion by Yencho
seconded by Trench granting this request. Roll Call -All Ayes.
Motion by Lange seconded by Trench, granting the request of the Northern States
Pov~r Co. to place two poles on Alley west of Reservoir Blvd. between .41st and
42nd Avenue N.E. Roll Call ~ All Ayes.
Eotion by Yencho seconded by Lange, that the request be granted the Minneapolis
Gas Co. to install a 4" main on Quincy St. from 61~ S .So line 43rd Avenye N.E.
to #4421 - Lot 21 - Block ll. Roll Call -All Ayes.
Motion by Spekulant seconded by Trench, to ~lace the letter on file ~eceived from
Mr. H.E. Chard, District Engineer, Department of Highways, State of Minnesota,
informing us bids for work on T.H.65 from 40th to ~Sth is to be called for on
August 2~th, and work to start 9 days after award of contract. Roll Call -
All Ayes.
A Petition was received for an alley between Heights Drive and Chathan Road from
45th to 47th E?enue, signed by fourteen residents. Motion by Yencho seconded
by Trench to refer this petition to Mr. Wilkinson. Roll Call - All Ayes.
A letter was received from the C.H. Civic Improvement Assoc. requesting permission
to operate the Bingo Stand at the Firemen's Festival August.4,~5,and 6th. Motion
by Yencho seconded by Spekulant to grant this request. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Resolution offered byYencho seconded by Spekulant, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the
City Council of the City of Columbua Heights that the City Treasurer be and she is
hereby instructed to transfer the sum of $9,000.00 from the Liqhor Fund to the
Street Fund; and that there are sufficient moneys in said Liquor Fund to make
such a transfer. Roll Call - All Ayes.

funds. Roll Call - All' Ayes.

meeting on the following quantities of r~-inforced concrete pipe: 300' of 24";
675' of 30"; and 30' of 36". All votin~ aye, motion carried.
