Minutes of the last meeting were read and spproved. Interested parties were in regarding the Sanitary Sewer Main on 38th Avenue, west of University and they were informed this would be checked into further and a special meeting called. Motion by Spekulant seconded by Trench to grant permission for a private water main at 4656 - 4th St. N.E. Roll Call - All Ayes. Mrs. Horr, 1416 - 42nd Ave. N.E. was in regarding sewer on 42nd Avenue a~d she was informed the City Engineer would contact her in the near future to see if something could be worked out. A request was made to park a trailer on the property of AoJ. Parks, 4928 - 4th St. N.E. Motion by Spekulant seconded by Trench to grant this request for 60 days to live in trailer. Roll Call - Lange: No. Trench, Spekulant, Yencho and Prestemon - Yes. Motion by Trench seconded by Spekulant, to notify Trailer occupants in Columbia Heights that have no permits, to vacate by June 15th or come into City Manager and report to him. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Lange seconded by Spekulant to grant the Building permit to Harry Stigsell, 4029 Central Avenue. Roll Call - Lange and Spekulant: Yes Trench, Yencho and Prestemon - No. Interested parties wre in and complained of alley conditions at 42nd Avenue between Washington and Jefferson and they were informed the City Engineer would fix the grade a~d this ~ould be t~n care ~of. Motion by Lange seconded by Yencho, to table the Resolution authorizing Public Survey on Housing conditions for further study. Roll Dall - Lange, Trench, Spekulant aud Yencho - Yes. Pres~emon - No. A Salesman from Sears-Roebuck was in aud wanted to know if a Plumbers License would be granted them if they e~tablished a place of business here and they were informed it would. A Petition was brought in for water on Arthur Street, signed by ?1% of the Property owners and they were told this would be taken care of ms soon as possible. Motion by Lauge seconded by Yencho, that the On and Off-Sale License for 3911 University take its regular course. Roll Call -All Ayes. Motion by Trench seconded by Yencho, that any application for Building Permits sho~Lld have the Building Inspectors O.E. before issued. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Trench seconded bySpekulant, that the motion made on February l~th, 1950, granting William Levy a Theatre License for a theatre to be located on Lots 21, 22 and 2S, Block 3, Reservoir Hills, be revoked. Roll Call - All Ayes. The City Manager was instructed to write E.C. Mitzel, Jr. ~330 Washington St' and Mr. Baker, ~35~ Washington St. N.E. that they remove any junk cars or cars not in running condition and to straighten up their premises. Motion by Trench seconded by Lange that any request for stop signs on 3?th Avenue be left up to the City Manager,& Roll Call - All Ayes. Chief of Police. Motion by Lange secoHde~-by Yencho to accept the bit of the Allied Store Equipment Co. for a Cooler for the Liquor Store. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Yencho seconded by Lange, that the bids for Garbage Collection be turned over to the City Manager for his recommendations. Roll Call -All Ayes. Resolution offered by Lange seconded by Trench, WHEREAS, lots Eleven (ll), Twelve (12) Thirteen (13) Fourteen (lb) mdd Fifteen (15), Block Thirty (30) Col.Heights Annex have previously been assessed for sewer; and, ~REAS, assessments w~re levied against the above decribed properties as part of Local Improvement No~200; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HE?~BYRESOLVEDbythe City Council of the City of Columbia Heights that the County Auditor be and he is hereby s~thorized to strike from the assessment rolls the assessments on Local Improvement No.200 against the above described properties, subsequent to the 19~9 levy...i.e., $1~2.52 for each lot specified. Resolution offered by Lange seconded by Trench, The City CounCil of the City of Columbia Heights hereby resolves that, WHEREAS, Special Assessments for Lot 21 Block 9 Roslyn Park Addition on Job No.177 a~d 200 in the amounts of $67.68 and $8?.50 have belebu paid in full; BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the County Auditor be and he is hereby authorized ~o strike from the asseesment rolls the a~oresaid assessments. ResOlUtion offered byLange seconded byTrench, The City Council of the City of Columbia Heights hereby resolves that, WHEREAS, Special Assessments for Lots 8 to ll inclusive, Block 23 Roslyn Park Addition on Job No.201 in the smount o~ $3~0.00 have been paid in full; BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the County Auditor be and he is hereby authorized to strike from the assessment rolls the aforesaid assessments. Roll Call- All Ayes. A ~equest was received from the Park Board to 'have Jefferson St. bOth ~ down past the park tarvia and also sidewalks on both sides to the alley. This was turned over to the City Manager for investigation. Motion by Yencho seconded by Lange to send three men to Firemen's convention at New Ulm, June 12-13-1~ with expenses paid on the same basis as last year. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Trench seconded by Lange that City Manager write to people living on Central, ~3rd to ~th, ~ho will not connect to sewer, requesting them to come to our next meeting at 7 o'clock, ~hen a Public hearing will be held. OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS Special Meeting June 2, 1950 Special Meeting of the City Council was called to order at 8:15 P.M.~ Mayor Prestemon pr~esided, and councilmen present w~re Lange, Yencho and Spekulant. Absent was councilman Trench. Motion by Lange seconded by Spekulant that the City Manager serve as the Council Secretary for this particular meeting. Roll Call - All Ayes. A letter was read from E.P. Hartry, 3821 Reservoir Blvd, relativ~ to a building permit for the basement of a garage attached to the basement home. After considerable discussion with Mr. Hartry and the building inspector, an agreement was reached that alterations would be made to comply with the building code, and the permit~ approved by the inspector. The question of extending the sanitary sever trunk line on 38th from 2½ to 3rd Street, and a latteral on Third Street from 37th to 38th, and extending toward Edgemore for a distance of four lots was discussed. Motion by Spekulant seconded by Lange that the City Manager check present commitments, and balance available for construction work, and if it is found that there is sufficient money available, said project be authorized.
