HomeMy WebLinkAboutMarch 28, 1950The city attorney presented for the consideration of the council two sample bonds by the Hilltop Corp., Wilkinson Home ~'inance Corp., C. P. Wilkinson, E. G. Wilkinson, and the Anchor Casualty Co., to the City of Columbi~a2~Heights' The said bonds guaranteed the payment of ~48,544.88 an~d ~ ,779.01 for taxes to be assessed against 164 lots in the Hilltop Addition,~pon the construction of a sewer and water system, and the construction of a sewerage lift .station, to serve the said lots. ~otion by Yencho seconded by Lange that the city accept the above bond Roll Call- All Ayes. · Motion to adjourn. OFFICIA~ PROCEEDINGS Regular Meeting March 28, 1950 ~eeting called to order at 8:10 P.E. All members present. ~inutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Mr~. C.L. Horr, 1416 - ~2nd Ave. N.E. was present and turned over a petition for severn 4~nd Avenue east of Central Avenue. Eotion by Spekulant seconded bY Trench that this petition take its regular course. Roll Call - All Ayes. Edward Smith, 39~8 Tyler Street was in and complained of street conditions on Tyler between $9th and AOth and he was assured this would be checked into. petition was brought in for sewer on 6th Street between ASth and th and this was tabled for further consideration. Several residents were in and complained of the hazardous conditions on ~nd street where they are putting in sewer. Eotion by Trench seconded by Lange that Acting City Manager instruct 0rfie & Mariani to remove dirt from sidewalks immediately or other action to be taken. Roll Call - All Ayes. Complaints were received from residents on Johnson Street between 39th and ~Oth regarding the conditions of street since sewer was installed in the fall of 19~8. They were informed this would be t ~ken care of as soon as possible. A letter was received from Mr. Ceaser asking to hook on to our sewer at the same time that Trailer City did. E~tion by Spekulant seconded ~y Trench to turn this request over to City Manager. Roll Call - All Ayes. A request was made for water on Washington between ~th and ~Sth and they were asked to get a petition signed and brought ~n. A request was received from Ray W. Nelson 4320 ~Ionroe Street for a re-newal of 80 days to live in his trailer at this address. The Council asked that a letter be written him asking that he appear at the next meeting. A letter was received from the Commissioner of Taxation reganding an Assessors meeting April 4th, requesting that the Assessor and one representative from the Council be present. It was decided that Mr. Prestemon attend with Mr. Ernest. A letter was received from the Minneapolis Gas Co. asking for permission of main extensions on Jobs SlO and S12 and Jobs8 and 9. ~otion by Spekulant seconded by yencho that this request be granted. Roll Call - All Ayes. A request was received from the Brooklyn Center Fire Department to joins the mutual Aid Agreement in fire fighting. Eotion by Yencho seconded by Lange to accept their proposition. Roll Call - All Ayes. A letter was received from Franc~s Brown, lO9 Wes~ .39th St. requesting water and sewer on 5th Street between 51st and 53rd. ~otion by Yencho seconded by Lange to table this request for further study. Treasurer be and ~he is hereby instructed to transfer the sum of $8,000.00 from the Liquor Fund to the Street Fund; and that there are sufficient moneys in said Liquor Ftund to make such a transfer. Resolution offered by Trench seconded by Spekulant, BE IT HE?~BY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights that the City, Treasurer be and she is hereby instructed to transfer the Sum of ~2,000.00 from the Liquor Fund to the Fire Fund; and that there are sufficient moneys in said Liquor Fund to make such a transfer. Resolution offered by Trench seconded by Spekulant, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights that the City Treasurer be and she is hereby instructed to transfer the sum of~ $2,000.00 from the Liquor Fund to the Police & Court Fund; and that there are sufficient moneys in said Liquor Fund to make such a transfer.
