Resolution offered by Hosch seconded by Holm, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City
Council of the City of Co~lumbia Heights, that the Lice4se Fee for Bowling Alleys
be set at $10.00 for the first Alley and~ $5.00 for each additional alley.

granted Edward J. Peirsak, upon payment of the proper fee and obtaiuing the

A request was received from Cargill Co. to cross 5th Street with a pipe line and
this will be referred to the Fire Department.
We City ~jaaager gave a report regarding the Liquor store hours.
%tion by Julkowski seconded by Hosch, recommending to the City Manager that the
quor store be kept open until I A.~{. Saturday and Sunday mornings for a month
on a trial basis. Roll Call - All Ayes.
The City Engineer gave a report ~on the request for Sewer extension on ~5th Avenue
east of Central, and recommended that we wait until t~e spring break up is over
and then decide what to do.
The City Engineer gave a report on the opening of 44th Avenue east from ~cLeod,
and recommended that if we do consider doing this work, that we contract it out.
A letter was received from Carl ~V. Eck, Representative of the 44th~ District,
asking that our Fire and Police Chief attend a meeting at the Field House
on ~.~arch 5th at 8 P.~. for the purpose of discussing medical and hospital
c~re for emergency cases in Columbia Heights.
Motion ~ Holm ~econded by Hosch, that this ~ietter dated February 21st,
be placed on file. Roll Call - ~ Ayes.
A letter was received from Carl Eck, Representative of the 44th Distruct,
in regards to a meeting at the Anoka Coquet House on ~arch 17th at i P.H.
to discuss County problems.

A letter was received from Cecelia Eeyes, Sec.& Treas. of th~ Library Board,

The City ~ana~er was asked to get so~ethir~ more definite on this.
A letter was received from W.E. Cottrell, Police Chief, asking for permission to
attend the short course for Police Administrators to be held at the University
of Eimnesota Center for Continuation Study on ~arch 12th through the 14th, and
also asking for expenses.

A letter was received from ~V.E. Cottrell, Police Chief, relative to ~ Jure ~hile
Officers Institute June l!th to August 17th, at the University of Minnesota.
The City Manager was asked to get more information regsmding t~_is.
A letter was received from the Police Civil Service C~mmission asking the City
Council for approval o~f expenses for examination of applicants to the Eligible
Register.
Notion by Holm ~econded by Enutson, that approval be given the Police Civil
S~rvice Commission ~uthorizing the necessary expens, es for examinations.

Council of the City of Columbia Heights~ that Sick Leave for City w~mployes be

A report was received from the Minnesota Highway Departme.nt, asking that a
R~solution be forwarded from the City Co~zucil requesting them to make a
traffic engineering study of certain intersections.
Resolution offered by Holm seconded by JuLkowski, WHEREIN, Traffic Conditions on
Stabe Highways No.65 and 56 have become a major problem within the City of
Columbia Heights, particularly at the intersection~ of 41st Avenue mad Central
Avenue, 37th Avenue and Central Avenue, T.H.65, and 40th Avenue and University
Avenue, T.H. 56 and; '
WHEREAS: d~m to the heavy use of the abSve highways, it has almost become
impossibl~ to cross at the abo~e intersections ~t certain periods ?ithout
endangering life and property, and;
WHF~WJ~AS: The City Council of the City of Columbia Heights has deemed it necessary
that some method of traffic control be installed~ at the above named intersections,
THEREFOEE BE' IT RESOLVED: by tb~ City Council of the Cit~ of Columbia Heights
that the Minnesota State Highway Department be requested to conduct a traffic
survey of the above designated intersections for the purpose of determining ~he
best method of traffic control and be it further ~ESOLVED: that a copy of the
above resolution be forwarded to the Traffic Engineering Department, Highway
