A Notice of Hearing was received from~he R~ilroadand Warehouse'Commission
regarding an increase in fares for the LewisLines,Inc.
Motion by Holm seconded by Julkowski, that th~sNotice of Hearing be turned
over to the City Attorney. Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
A letter was received from E.H. Dobersteinrelative to multipledwelling
violation. This matter was referred to the inspection department.
A letter was received from the V~l~age of Edinaregar~d~ugparticipation
in gas rate survey.
Motion by Hosch seconded by Ju]_kowski, that this lette~ dated August 24th,
be ~laced on file. Roll Call - ~Ayes.
A l~tter was received from the Park Board requesting a meetin~with the
Council for the purpos~ of discussing thel957 budget.
Motion by Julkowski seconded by Hosch, that a Special Meeting be set for
September 6th, at 7:15 for consideration of bids on Parking Lot Paving and
~Lighting, at 7:30 with the Park Board, and 8:30 with the Fire Department.

Regarding the letter from Harrier and Cornelius read at the last meeting,
the City Manager reported they are no longer interested in the City owned
property between Quincy and Madisbn Street from 37th to 39th Avenue.

Motion by Hosch seconded by Holm, that the City Manager contact the Village
of Fridley and go over this problem with them and work out a plan for a~

Motion by Hosch seconded by Holm, that we table ~his request of A1 Forsythe
& Sons~ until we have had a report from our City ~Ma~er~ Roll Call - All Ayes~
The City Engineer gave a-report on the opening of an alley between 6th and 7th
Street~ from 47th to 48th. He reported some poles and a garage would-have to
be moved and several trees removed, 'at an estimated cost of four o~ fi~e
hundred dollars, but recommended that this alley should be cut thrSugh~
Several residents of this block were present and objected to an sIhley being
cut through.
Motion by Hosch seconded by Holm, authorizing the opening of s~u alleylbetween
6th amd 7th Street from 47th to 4$th. ~ Roll Call - Holm, Hosch, 'Stopka - yes.
Julkowski abstained from voting. ~
The Engineer reported on filling of alley between Reservoir Blvd. and Tyler
Street, from 43rd to 44th Avenue, and recommended that this be done.
Motion by Holm seconded by Hosch, that the City M~ger be authorized to
proceed with the installation of an alley between Reservoir Blvd. 'and Tyler
Street, from 43rd to 44th Avenue. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. ~ ' ·
The Engineer reported on the paving of ~alley between 7th Street and
Washington, from 40th to 41st Avenue, snd stated over ~ of the property
owners had signed this Petition.
Motion by Hosch seconded by Holm, that the City Manager be authorized to
advertise a Hearing for paving of this alley for the meeting of September
llth meeting. Roll Call - All Ayes.
The City Engineer gave a report of additio~urb and Gutter construction
needed~
Motion by Julkowski seconded by Hosch, that the City Manager be authorized
to advertise a Hearing for the following Curb & Gutter construction at

Motion by julkowski seconded by Hosch, that the City Manager be authorized to

The matter of Billboards for advertising and political campa~ was discussed
and should not e~eed 10 square feet maximum~
Motion by Julkowski seconded by Hol~, that Tessem Construction Co. be paid
the sum of $ll,904e63~ out of the proper fund~. Roll Ca~_l - All Ayes.
Motion by Holm seconded by Hosch, that Axel Hartse be paid the sum of
$4,84~70, out of the proper funds. Roll Call - ~1,! Ayes.
First re~ding of Ordinance No.369, An Ord~namce providing f~ the issuance
of $185,000 of Bonds for creating a~d maintaining the City.s permauent
improvement Revolving ~ Fund.
Councilman Hosch introduced a written ordinance No.369, entitled "An Ordinance
Providing .for the Issuance of $185,000 of Bonds for creating and maintaining
the City's Permanent Improvement Revolving Fund', which was given its first
reading.
On Motion made, seconded, and carried, said ordinance was ordered filed
in the office of the Secretary of theCouncil and to be published as a
proposed ordinance in the next issue of the official newspaper.
