Motiom by~ Holm seconded by Hosch that this bid be rejected and that the City
Manager be auth~orized to re-advertise for .bids on this building both sealed and
oral, to be opened at the next Council meeting, and that the Council has the
right to reject any and all bids.
Mayor Stopka stepped down from the chair and made an amendment to this motion
as follows: That the oral portion be el~m!nated and that the sale be made to
the h~ghest sealed bidder and that the council has the right to reject any and
all bids. This amendment lost for the ~ of a second.

be postpoSeduntil the next, regular meeting.
Mayor Stopka stepped down from the cha~ and made the following amendment:
That the entire matter be postponed for twelve months as it is the desire
of the Council not to take this up at the April 26th meeting. This ame~lment
lost for the lack of a second.

Joseph Kozlak was present and brought up the matter of ~niversity Avenue and
asked that the Council send a delegation to the Highway Comm~ ssioner asking
that th!~ Highway be finished.

A letter was received from the Fire Department asking for a raise for the Volunteer
Firemen in anSWering fire calls.
Resolution offered by Holm seconded by Hosch, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the Cit~
Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that the salary for Volunteer Firemen
for answering fire calls be set at $4.00 from April tst to October 1st and $5.00

A letter w~s received~ from the Columbia Heights Chamber of Commerce asking that
the city provide rubbish receptacles in the business district and the City Manager
was asked to look into this matter.

A meeting was set for Friday, A~ril 29th, with Mr. Arneson, Union representative
at 7:30 and at 9 P.M. to discuss the Liquor store plans~
R~solution offered by Holm seconded by Knutson, WHEREAS, Lots 8 and 16 inclusive, Block 1,
S~cond Subdivision of Block F were assessed as part of Local Improvement No.2~!!~; and,
WHEREAS, sand Lots 8 and 16 inclusiwe, Block 1, Second Subdivision of Block F is
City owned property;
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED hy the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights that the
County Auditor be and he is hereby authorized and directed to strike from the
assessment rolls the aforesaid assessments totaling $63.51 on the property

A letter was received from Harold W. Gowan, 38~3 ~Tyler St. N.E. claiming dem~ge
from the ~ity because their basement was flooded. The City Enginerr was asked
to check this matter.

the City~of~Minneapolis North to Highway No. lO carries a very heavy flow of traffic
and the present road is inadequate for the purpose, and WHE~ the rapid rate of
construction of both r~sidential and commercial properties along s aid highway accen-

WHEREAS the State Highway Department has a n~mber of years ago acquired adequate
