Motion by Hosch seconded by Deeble, 'that the council have a special ~meeting with the Police Chief to discuss the hiring of extra Policemen. Mayor Stopka relinquished the chair and.~fered a Resolution that the Police Commission be authorized to hire another Patrolman. This Resolution lost for the lack of a second. Roll C~ll - Ail Ayes. Only one bid was received for Legal Publications of the City of Columbia Height~, and this from the Columbia Heights Record. Motion by Deeble seconded by Holm, that the Columbia Heights Record be designated as the Official Newspaper for 1954,. at the price established by the Statutes of the State of Minnesota for such Publications. Roll Call - Holm, Hosch, Deeble, Knutson - yes. Stopka - No. A bid was received from Albert Paulson for Dog Catcher at $650.00 per year. Motion by Deeble seconded by Knutson, that Mr. Paulson be designated the City Dog Catcher far 1954. Roll Call - Hosch, Deeble, Knutson, Stopka - yes. Holm - No. Councilman Holm requested a report on the activities of the Dog Catcher. The City M~nager recommended that the bids on a Police Car be rejected. Motion by Hosch seconded by Hob, that these bids be rejected. Roll Call - All Ayes. N,t~-aa~-~e~a- The City Engineer gave his recommendation on the bids for a Front End Loader and this was for the Hough HF at $5,703.00 from the Rosholt Equipment Co. Holm and Stopka were of the opinion this piece of equipment was too l~arge and recommended we get bids on a lighter loader. Motion by Holm seconded by Stopk~a, that these bids we have on a Front ~nd Loader be laid on the table. Roll call - Holm & Stopka - Yes. Hosch, Deeble and Knutson - No. Motion by Deeb!e seconded by Hosch, that the bid of the Rosholt Equipment Co. for a Hough HF Loader at $5,703.00 be accepted. Roll Call - Holm & Sto?ka - No. Hosch, Deeble and Knutson - Yes. Motion by Deeble seconded by Ho~u, that the Northtown Benefit Association be authorized to play Bingo in the Columbia Heights Field House. Roll Call - Holm, Deeble, Knutson, Stopka -~Yes. Hosch - No. Motion by Holm seconded by Deeble, that the City Manager be instructed to write both the Park Board and the NorthtownBenefit Association, with a full explanation of the stand of the Council with~regards to expressing that this body is in favor o~ Recreational activities taking precedent over Bingo permits. Roll Call - All Ayes~ A letter was received from a Fridley Township Committee asking for annexation to Col~_~mb ia Heights. Motion by Deeble seconded by Hosch, that a Specia~ Meeting be set with the Fridley Township ?ommittee ~and the Columbia Heights Planning and Zoning Commission , on February ~3rd, at 8 P.M. Roll Csl_l, - All Ayes~ A request' was received from Don Christian, 4101 ~eservoir Blvd. for a private water mai4. Motion by~ Holm seconded by Deeble, that this req~st be granted. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by~ HosCh seconded by Deeble, that the City' Manager write the various Mother's Clubs and the P.T.A., that we would like their recommendations for members to be appointed to the Library Board. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Holm seconded by Knutson, that a Spec~mal Meeting be set for January 28th, at 8 P.M. with the Police Chief and also to consider the Fridley water service at 9 P.M. Roll Call - A~l~ Ayes. Motion by Deeble seconded by Hosch, that the Special Meeting of February 3rd, also include the Anderson Additio~n. Roll Call - All Ayes. Resolution offered by Knutson seconded by Holm, The City Council of the City of Columbia Heights hereby resolves that, ~WHEREAS, Special Assessments for Lots Twenty-nine (29) and Thirty (30) Block Fifty-six (56) Columbia Heights Annex on Job No.245 in tBe amount of $312.80 have been paid in full; BE IT THEPJ~O~ RESOLVe) that the County.
