HomeMy WebLinkAboutSeptember 1, 1954RESOLUTION OFFERED BY DEEBLE SECONDED BY HOLM, ~TEREAS~ numerous complaints have been received by residents residing i~u the City of Columbia Heights in the vicinity of 45th Avenue and es. st of Central Avenue, concerning the ooeration of a dump in this area and, WHERE.&S' the present operation of this dump is a serious menace to health and safety due to dense smoke, objectionable odors, flying embers, the congregation of rat~ and other rodents and, WHEREA~ Petitions have been presented to the City Council of the City of Col~nbia Heights to take action~ to s. bate the nuisance,the City Council hereby RESOLVES To appeal to the To~m Board of the To,reship of Fridley to t~e vigorous act~ioh to alleviate the above conditions and be it further RES~?~ that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Town Board of the Township of Fridley. Resolution offered by Deeble seconded by Holm, ~EEEAS; the City of Columbia Heights aseDt~red into .au agreement with the Highway Department, State of Minnesota to bear .~cer~a~n.pToportmon of the cost of re-surfacing of Highway 65 between 37th and 4Oth Avenues N.E. and ~EREAS: certain conditions and deficiencies have arisen whereby curb and sidewalk not i.'~.ci~ included in the original estimate have come to light necessitating replacements of said curb and sidewalk, and ~HEF~S, the Highway Department has estimated the cost ~ of the above to be $724.04 of Which the City of Columbia Heights would be obligated in the ~mount of 25% of the total, therefore be it RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Manager be authorized to enter into a contract with the State Highway Department fo~ the above construction. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Mr. Burns of the State Highway Department was present and presented the problem of a joint storm drain involving the State of Minnesota, the Village of Fridley, snd the City of Columbia Heights. Motion by Deeble, seconded by Hosch, that a specisl meeting be set for Wednesday, September 22 at 7:30 to discuss the Joint sponsoring of this project. Roll call, all ayes.
