Regular Meeting
Meeting called to order at 8 P.M. All members present.
Minutes of the last regular and special meetings were read and approved. '
Motion by Deeble seconded by Knutson, that the Plumbing License' application of
Frank Summa be turned over to the Plumbing Inspector for re-consideration.

Manager for tabulation and brought back ~ith a recommendation. Roll Call - ALl Ayes.
Motion by Holm seconded by Deeble, that the City Manager be instructed to write a
letter to the Fridley Mayor andCouncil, telling them that we.are aware of defLuite
violations o£ their contract with us and that we would advise them to consult us
i~me~ately on clarification of these points. Roil Call - All ~es.
Motion by Deeble seconde~ bT Hooch, that the Police Chief's request be complimd
~ith and install a new radio~ in the new police car and leave the present radio
in the old car. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Motion by Deeble seconded by Hosch, that the City Manager be authorized to ad-
vertise for a Hearing on the Central Avenue improvement from 37th t, ~th, a~ the
April 2?th meeting . Roll Call - ~1 Ayes.
Petitions were received fort the following improvements:
1. S~dewalk on the East aide of Reservoir Blvd. between 40th & 41st Ave.
2.Curb on 37th Avenue, Johnson Street to Buchanan. ~
3. Curb on 3~th Avenue from 5th Street to Jafferson ~t.
Motion by Holm seconded by Deeble, that the City Manager and Engineer be instructed
to come up with an estimated cost ~nd to check these Petitions and call a Hearing
for the next regular meeting~ April 27th. Roll Call ~ All Ayes.
Motion by Holm seconded by Enutson, that the Pettti~ for Sanitary Sewer on 37th
Avenue between Johnson and Buchanan, be placed on file. Holl Call - All Ayes.
Motion bT Holm seconded by Knutson~. that the ~e tter Trom Esll, Smith & Hedlund,
regarding C.P~ Rogers~ 1214 - 44th Avenue, dated Maroh 30th~ be turned over to
the City Manager. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Motion by Deeble seconded by Holm, that the letter from Louis Entner, 4133 Polk St.
dated March 29th, be laid on the table. Roll C~ll - Al~ Ayes.
A letter was received from the League of Minnesota Municipalities regarding the
Minnesota State Fire School to be held April 26-30, t954.
Motion by Deeble seconded by Knutson, authorizing the payment of~ expenses for
firemen to attend this school. Roll Call - All~ Ayes.
Motion by Holm seconded by Hosch, that the City Manager be authorize~ to advertise
for 10,O00 yards of gravel,more or less; lO0,O00 gallons Asphalt, more or less,
and gasoline for the coming year. Roll Call - ~1~ Ayes.
Motion by Deeble seconded by Knutson, accepting the Mayor's appointment of Elsie
Wermerskirchen to the Police Civil Service Commission dated April 24~954.

Na~=nStopka relinquished the chair and made a motion to appoint Louis Adams,
2120 - 43rd Ave. N.E. to the Planning & Zoning Commission. This motion lost
for the lack of a second.
M~tion by Hosch seconded by Deeble, that Don Martin, 5013-5th St. N.E. be
appointed to the Planning & Zoning Commission. Roll Call - Holm, Hosch~
Deeble, Stopka - Yes. Knutson - No.
Motion by Deeble, to table the two appointment s to the Fire Civil SerFice
Commission until the~ next meeting. This motion lost for the lack of a second.
Motion by Holm seconded by Knutson, that Wallace Peterson be re-appointed to the
Fire Civil Service Commission dated April 24,1954. Roll Call - Holm, Hosch,
Enu%~on, Stopka - Yes. Deeble - No.'
Motion by Holm seconded by Deeble, that the re-appointment of Dom Hebzyuski to
the Fire Civil Service Commission be held over to the ne~t meeting until the
City Attorney checks his eligibility. Roll Call - All Ayes.
~tion by Knutson seconded by Holm, that Lenny Cochraue be paid the sum of
$2,114.60. Roll Gall - All'AyeS.

Resolution offered by Hob ~econded by Deeble, The City Council of the City of
Columbi~ Heights hereby resolves that, WHEREAS, S~cial Assessments for So.½ of
West ½ pf Lot 3, Block One (1) Oak Park Addition on Jobs No.201 and 203 in the
amounts of $48.7'5 and $31.64 have been paid in full;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the County Auditor be and he is hereby authorized
and directed to strike from the assessment rolls the aforesaid assessments.

Columbia Heights hereby resolves that~ WHEREAS, Special ~sessments for South ½

on job No.204 in the amount of $102~61 have been paid in full;
BE iT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the County Auditor be and he is hereby authorized
and directed to strike from the assessment rolls the aforesaid assessments.

of Columbia Heights hereby resolves that, WHEREAS, Special Assessments for Lot

the amount of $27.20 have been paid in full;
BE IT THEREFORE RESGLVED that the County Auditor be and he is hereby authorized
and directed to strike from the assesament rolls the aforesaid asses~ents.

Motion by Deeble seconded by Hosch, that the Ralph Poh~ Post of the American Legion
be granted a permit for a Bingo Concession at the Jamboree to be held on June 18,
